“There is a very specific setup that requires a very structured approach to registration and the ability to connect a control point to a physical location. This has made naming the various points a complete science, as the numbering and division of controls comes directly from the client's advisers and can vary greatly in their scope," says Jens Jakob Damborg, responsible for quality assurance at Brøndum Stål.
Brøndum Stål already uses Tracelink for the majority of their quality assurance with CE marking and certification according to the EN 1090 standard. That is why they were also one of the first companies to jump on board with our DS 1140 solution: "It was important for us to have a program that was easy to understand and that was easy to adjust to each individual task," says Jens Jakob.
Execution of control
Since January, Brøndum Stål has made between 25-30 control plans. There are a total of 4 men who use and sign for DS1140 in Brøndum Stål; Jens Jakob stands as quality manager to set up templates for the Control Plan etc., two project managers collect various documents and check each other, while an assembly foreman carries out most of the control points on the construction site and provides photo documentation of everything for the final report. Checks are carried out weekly, both before and after installation.
- When Brøndum Stål has to do an inspection, Jens Jakob sets up a template in Tracelink that covers all parts of the project. To ease the administrative task, previous projects can be saved as templates and updated with new information. Jens Jakob can set the assembly foreman as responsible for various control points.
- On the construction site, the assembly supervisor can via the Tracelinks app see the control points he is responsible for and fill in an assembly form (a so-called form), which can be entered directly into the right point in the report. In this way, the assembly supervisor can carry out checks directly on site - without having to wait until he is back in the office.
- If the control point is filled in with relevant information and images, the assembly foreman clicks "Completed" and a signature is added as documentation. Now the project managers can see the item as completed on their live-updating dashboard, and thus create and export a report to the customer. The project managers are therefore not dependent on having spoken to the assembly foreman before the report can be sent to the customer - everything is done digitally.
”The DS1140 module has eased the burden of producing the necessary reports. The fact that the executor and the controller can approve an item directly on mobile or PC, and this automatically results in a signed report that can be sent directly to the customer, is absolutely fantastic! It has saved a lot of time that Tracelink itself collects all the parts and arranges them, so that you only have to write/type it in one place." says Jens Jakob.
